AMMIHUD

(uhm mi' huhd) Personal name meaning, “my people is splendid.” 1. Father of Elishama, who represented the tribe of Ephraim to help Moses during the wilderness wandering (Numbers 1:10). He presented the tribe's offerings at the dedication of the altar (Numbers 7:48) and led them in marching (Numbers 10:22). He was Joshua's grandfather (1 Chronicles 7:26). 2. Father of Shemuel of the tribe of Simeon, who helped Moses, Eleazar, and Joshua allot the land to the tribes (Numbers 34:20). 3. Father of Pedahel of tribe of Naphtali, who helped allot the land (Numbers 34:28). 4. Father of King of Geshur to whom Absalom fled after he killed his brother Amnon (2 Samuel 13:37). 5. Member of tribe of Judah who returned from Exile (1 Chronicles 9:4).
