(uh di' noh) Personal name meaning, “loving luxury.” Chief of David's captains who slew 800 men at one time (2 Samuel 23:8). Name does not appear in Septuagint, earliest Greek translation of this passage, nor in the Hebrew text of the parallel passage in
1 Chronicles 11:11. Some modern translators omit it from
2 Samuel 23:8 (NIV, RSV, TEV).
