(jay' luhm) Personal name meaning, “their ibex or mountain goat” or “he is hidden or dark.” Son of Esau and grandson of Isaac (Genesis 36:5), a clan leader among the Edomites (Genesis 36:18). Some interpreters emend the Hebrew text of
Psalms 55:19 to read, “Ishmael and Jalam, and the inhabitants of the east all together,” but this is done without any textual support. KJV, REB spell the name Jaalam.
