JATTIR

(jat' tuhr) Place name meaning, “the remainder.” Town in the hills of the tribal territory of Judah (Joshua 15:48). David gave some of war booty from victory over Amalekites to Jattir (1 Samuel 30:27). Joshua reserved it for the Levites (Joshua 20:14). It was located near modern khirbet Attir about thirteen miles south southwest of Hebron and fourteen miles northeast of Beersheba.
