(pi ray' thahn. pi ray' thahn ite) Place name meaning, “princely” or “height, summit” and its inhabitants. The town in the hill country of Ephraim was the home of the judge Abdon (Judges 12:13,Judges 12:15) and of Benaiah, one of David's elite warriors (2 Samuel 23:30;
1 Chronicles 11:31). The site is identified with Far'ata about five miles southwest of Shechem.
