In the Bible, a barn is a storage place for seed (Haggai 2:19) or grain (Matthew 13:30). A full barn is a sign of prosperity (Deuteronomy 28:8;
Luke 12:18) while empty barns are signs of calamity of some kind (either drought, war, etc;
Joel 1:17). Equivalent to modern granaries or silos.
