[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came (8799) to strip (8763) the slain, that they found (8799) Saul and his sons fallen (8802) in mount Gilboa. 9 And when they had stripped (8686) him, they took (8799) his head, and his armour, and sent (8762) into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings (8763) unto their idols, and to the people. 10 And they put (8799) his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened (8804) his head in the temple of Dagon. 11 And when all Jabeshgilead * * heard (8799) all that the Philistines had done (8804) to Saul, 12 They arose (8799), all the valiant men, and took away (8799) the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought (8686) them to Jabesh, and buried (8799) their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted (8799) seven days. 13 So Saul died (8799) for his transgression which he committed (8804) against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept (8804) not, and also for asking (8800) counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire (8800) of it; 14 And enquired (8804) not of the LORD: therefore he slew (8686) him, and turned (8686) the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
