Keep Fervent in Your Love

1 Therefore, since Christ R194 has suffered F66 in the flesh, arm R195 yourselves also with the same purpose, because he R196 who has suffered F66 in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so R197 as to live the R198 rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will R199 of God. 3 For the R200 time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having R201 F67 pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable F68 idolatries. 4 In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, R202 and they malign R203 you; 5 but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the R204 living and the dead. 6 For the R205 gospel has for this purpose been preached F69 even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.

7 The R206 end of all things is F70 near; therefore, be R207 of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. F71 8 Above all, keep R208 fervent in your love for one another, because love R209 covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be R210 hospitable to one another without complaint. R211 10 As R212 each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards R213 of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever R214 speaks, is to do so as F72 one who is speaking the utterances R215 of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by R216 F73 the strength which God supplies; so that in R217 all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to R218 whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Share the Sufferings of Christ

12 Beloved, R219 do not be surprised at the fiery R220 ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share R221 the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation R222 of His glory you R223 may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled for R224 F74 the name of Christ, you R225 are blessed, because R226 the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 Make sure that none R227 of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome R228 F75 meddler; 16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, R229 he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify R230 God in this name. 17 For it is time for judgment to R231 begin with F76 the R232 household of God; and if it begins R233 with us first, what will be the outcome for those who R234 do not obey the gospel R235 of God? 18 AND R236 IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT F77 WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS R237 MAN AND THE SINNER? 19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the R238 will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.
