Amos 6:1-7 [ Verse 6 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
1 Woe R177 to those who are at ease in Zion And to those who feel secure in the mountain of Samaria, The distinguished R178 men of the foremost of nations, To whom the house of Israel comes. 2 Go over to Calneh R179 and look, And go from there to Hamath R180 the great, Then go down to Gath R181 of the Philistines. Are they F67 better than these kingdoms, Or is their territory greater than yours? 3 Do you put R182 off the day of calamity, And would you bring R183 near the seat of violence? 4 Those who recline on beds of ivory And sprawl on their couches, R184 And eat R185 lambs from the flock And calves from the midst of the stall, 5 Who improvise to the sound of the harp, And like David have composed F68 songs R186 for themselves, 6 Who drink R187 wine from sacrificial F69 bowls While they anoint themselves with the finest of oils, Yet they have not grieved R188 over the ruin of Joseph. 7 Therefore, they will now go R189 into exile at the head of the exiles, And the sprawlers' R190 banqueting F70 will pass F71 away.
