Isaiah 30:27-33 [ Verse 28 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
27 Behold, the R1127 name of the LORD comes from a remote F453 place; Burning R1128 is His anger and dense F454 is His smoke; F455 His lips are filled with indignation R1129 And His tongue is like a consuming R1130 fire; 28 His breath R1131 is like an overflowing torrent, Which reaches R1132 to the neck, To shake R1133 the nations back and forth in a sieve, F456 And to put in the jaws of the peoples the R1134 bridle which leads F457 to ruin. 29 You will have songs F458 as in the night when you keep the festival, And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute, To go to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel. 30 And the LORD will cause His F459 voice of authority to be heard, And the descending F460 of His arm to be seen in fierce anger, And in the flame of a consuming fire In cloudburst, downpour and hailstones. 31 For at R1135 the voice of the LORD Assyria R1136 will be terrified, When He strikes with the rod. R1137 32 And every blow F461 of the rod R1138 F462 of punishment, Which the LORD will lay on him, Will be with the music of tambourines R1139 and lyres; And in battles, brandishing R1140 weapons, He will fight them. 33 For Topheth R1141 F463 has long been ready, Indeed, it has been prepared for the king. He has made it deep and large, A F464 pyre of fire with plenty of wood; The breath R1142 of the LORD, like a torrent of brimstone, R1143 sets it afire.
