Isaiah 40:18-26 [ Verse 19 in Original: Hebrew / Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
18 To R1506 whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him? 19 As for the idol, R1507 F585 a craftsman casts it, A goldsmith plates R1508 it with gold, And a silversmith fashions chains of silver. 20 He who is too impoverished for such an offering Selects a tree R1509 that does not rot; He seeks out for himself a skillful craftsman To prepare F586 an F587 idol that will R1510 not totter. 21 Do R1511 you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from R1512 the foundations of the earth? 22 It is He who sits F588 above the circle R1513 F589 of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, R1514 Who stretches R1515 out the heavens like a curtain R1516 And spreads them out like a tent R1517 to dwell in. 23 He it is who reduces rulers R1518 to nothing, Who makes R1519 the judges of the earth meaningless. F590 24 Scarcely F591 have they been planted, Scarcely F591 have they been sown, Scarcely F591 has their stock taken root in the earth, But He merely blows on them, and they wither, And the storm R1520 carries them away like stubble. 25 "To R1521 whom then will you liken Me That I would be his equal?" says the Holy One. 26 Lift R1522 up your eyes on high And see who R1523 has created these stars, The One R1524 who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness R1525 of His might and the strength F592 of His power, Not R1526 one of them is missing.
