Matthew 11:16-24 [ Verse 22 in Original: Greek ]
[ Read Chapter | Discuss these Verses ]
16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children, 17 and say, `We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.' F247 18 "For John came neither eating R391 nor drinking, R392 and they say, `He R393 has a demon!' 19 "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, F248 a R394 friend of tax collectors and sinners!' F249 Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds." 20 Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles R395 F250 were done, because they did not repent. 21 "Woe R396 to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! R397 For if the miracles F251 had occurred in Tyre R398 and Sidon R398 which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth R399 F252 and ashes. 22 "Nevertheless I say to you, it R400 will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the R401 day of judgment than for you. 23 "And you, Capernaum, R402 will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will descend R403 to Hades; R404 for if the miracles F253 had occurred in Sodom R405 which occurred in you, it would have remained to this day. 24 "Nevertheless I say to you that it R406 will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom R407 in the day of judgment, than for you."
