Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.

A Prayer of David.

1 Hear a just R345 cause, O LORD, give R346 heed to my cry;

Give R347 ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful R348 lips.

2 Let my R349 judgment F138 come forth from Your presence;

Let Your eyes look with equity. R350

3 You have tried R351 my heart;

You have visited me by night;

You have tested R352 me and You R353 find nothing; F139

I have purposed R354 that my mouth will not transgress.

4 As for the deeds of men, by R355 the word of Your lips

I have kept from the paths R356 of the violent.

5 My steps R357 have held fast to Your paths. F140

My feet R358 have not slipped.

6 I have called R359 upon You, for You will answer me, O God;

Incline R360 Your ear to me, hear my speech.

7 Wondrously R361 show Your lovingkindness,

O Savior R362 of those who take refuge at F141 Your right hand

From those who rise up against them.

8 Keep me as the F142 apple R363 of the eye;

Hide me in R364 the shadow of Your wings

9 From the wicked R365 who despoil me,

My deadly R366 enemies who surround me.

10 They have closed R367 their unfeeling F143 heart,

With their mouth they speak R368 proudly.

11 They have now surrounded R369 us in our steps;

They set their eyes to R370 cast us down to the ground.

12 He is like R371 a lion that is eager to tear,

And as a young lion lurking R372 in hiding places.

13 Arise, R373 O LORD, confront him, bring R374 him low;

Deliver R375 my soul from the wicked with Your R376 sword,

14 From men with Your R377 hand, O LORD,

From men of F144 the world, whose R378 portion is in this life,

And whose belly You fill R379 with Your treasure;

They are satisfied with children,

And leave their abundance to their babes.

15 As for me, I shall behold R380 Your face in righteousness;

I R381 will be satisfied with F145 Your likeness R382 when I awake.
