LEFT HAND

The hand located on the same side of the body as the heart; generally the weaker of the two hands. The left hand is frequently associated with the less preferable of alternatives. Joseph protested against his eldest being blest with Jacob's left hand (Genesis 48:13-19). A fool's heart inclines to the left (Ecclesiastes 10:2). The goats' place of judgment is at the left hand (Matthew 25:33,Matthew 25:41). Ehud, the judge, took advantage of his left-handedness to assassinate Eglon, the king of Moab (Judges 3:15-22). To not know one's right hand from one's left hand is to be ignorant of right and wrong (Jonah 4:11).
